John Curran

John is the visionary force behind John Curran Desert Photography. John has been involved in the arts from an early age, growing up in Long Island, New York. His father, John Curran Senior was a staff photographer for Newsday, and a major creative influence on his young son. The first expression of John's gift was in the field of music. As a bass player, he attended the prestigious Berklee School of Music, where he excelled in performance and composition. John still performs with his band, The Grumpy Old Men today! Even while he spent many years with touring road bands, John always had a camera in his hand. It wasn't until he moved to Apple Valley, in the Mojave Desert that he discovered his true passion. The color, form and contrast of the area inspired him to follow in his father's footsteps as a professional photographer. As well as photographing the desert he loves, John has the intimate knowledge of the Mojave Biosphere that only an educated horticulturalist and naturalist can have.John has recently enjoyed success in the fine art field, with several works commissioned by The Joan Warren-Grady Art Advisory.
