A springtime bloom of an Elm tree
(Ulmus spp.). Seeds are encased in these papery winglike disks, called samaras.
As the seedlings fall from the tree they are dispersed by the wind which carries
the seeds out from under the shade of the parent tree, neccessary for the growth
of its young sapling.
