If it was me I’d skip the Nikon 18-105mm and another wide angle lens and get one lens, the 18-200mm or 18-300mm lens.
Later if you wanted a wide angle I’d consider something in the 10.5mm fish eye range. Unless you have need of the D3000 as a back up camera, I’d consider selling it.

I’m going to get this with its 18-105 lens and possible 20mm wide angle ? So should i do that and sell my d3000 ?

The Nikon D7000 is a camera body that is purchased by serious photo enthusists to professionals. You can get the camera body only or many dealers offer it with a choice of several different lenses. The zoom capabilities depend on the lens you put on it.

Good day sir. after a month of waiting, I now have the nikon d7000 with the 18-105mm VR lens. I also purchased a 50mm F1.8G prime lens. Now I am loving it and I want to thank you for your advice. BTW, I also got the macro extension tube and I love the image quality produced by this camera and lens.
Again more power to you and thank you very much.

(Continued from above) – The Nikon D4 is however, much heavier and larger than the D7000 and at present cost $5100 more than the D7000.
In picture quality, both the D7000 and D4 will give you outstanding photos. Because of the FX Sensor, the fast shudder speed and better high iso capabilities should give the D4 an edge in the right hands.

Thank you! The Nikon D4 is a full frame (FX) sensor format compared to the DX sensor on the D7000. The D4 shoots faster, gives outstanding image quality at high ISOs. It is designed for the professional photographer who shoots sports or needs 10 FPS. It also has a rugged lightweight magnesium alloy body.
Most people don’t need the high end features the D4 offers, but if you do this body is one of Nikon’s best. (Continued below)

I don’t shoot tethered to a laptop so I have no real experience other than what I hear and that is you can use Adobe Lightroom to shoot this way.

I am currently using sony a33, but I’ve been thinking switching to D4 nikon. What is the difference between the D4 and D7000 in picture quality? Btw, that’s a very good informative presentation. Double thumbs up… Thank you!

great info !!!!! I would like to know if the d7000 will send the image straight to your laptop …what i hate more than anything is an image that looks great on the camera screen then import them and they are crap…

Thank you. The rotating bracket shown attached to the D7000 body is made by the Justrite Bracket Co. I have one for each DSLR I use. See more info in the video I produced about it at “Camera Bracket & Accessories” video.

The Nikon D7000 would be an ideal DSLR for a beginning student, so would the Nikon D3200 and D5200. With the deals right now on the D7000 I would go with that.

Hey, I just want to ask if it is a good idea, for a begginer in SLR cameras, to buy a Nikon D7000, knowing that I can improve by classes and taking it as a long time inversion.
Thanks.

What happened to your 18-200? Its better to use the same lens on your D7000.
New 18-300 is not a good idea when you already have a 18-200.

Sort of in the same position as Tony. Have a D80 about 6 years old and very tempted to trade it towards a D7000 now. Latest rumours put the D7000 replacement around April 2013 but I’ll wager that it will cost significantly more than the D7000 is now selling for. Only real issue is that the D7000 is 2-year old technology now, so who knows just what improvements its successor will have

(Continued from above) For video, mirrorless may be the way to go since their auto focus is spectacular.
Right now many dealers are selling the D7000 at pretty nice discount prices and may even come down more when the replacement arrives. It will be interesting to see what will replace it and what the price will be and whether or not it will be worth the additional expense for most photographers. The Nikon D7000 could be a tremendous bargain for many photographers when the replacement arrives.

I also heard rumors of a Nikon D7000 replacement coming early this year. But then I heard rumors of the replacement coming about 9 months ago. As a D7000 owner and user, I am still extremely happy with it’s quality, color and features and for a DX camera, I don’t think there is one that can currently match it. For video, it’s a different story. I’m not too happy with the focus issues when using the D7000 for video, especially on auto focus. (continued below)

with rumours going around of a new D7000 replacement is it still a idea to buy the D7000? I’m currently deciding on buying the D7000 or waiting for the successor. What do you think? is the D7000 out dated compared to other cameras out right now?
