Facebook: www.facebook.com Twitter: twitter.com In a drab, anonymous grey school governed by a strict authoritarian regime, an apparently unremarkable day is turned on its head following a seemingly ridiculous announcement. Disbelieving at first, the all male, identically uniformed pupils are informed that what they had always been taught as fact is no longer true. When the incredulous students speak out, what initially seems laughably absurd becomes desperately real as they are forced to question how far they will go to stand up for their beliefs. Two & Two is an allegory for the absurdness of dictatorship and tyranny – and the resilience of the human spirit. There was a Soviet joke: propaganda says “2+2=5″, a dissident says “2+2=4″ and has been arrested. Long time later he is released and hears that propaganda says “2+2=6″. He repeats: “2+2=4″. A policeman asks him: “Do you want that 2+2 will be 5 again?”

Sorry to say but this is facile and goes nowhere with a re-hashed idea. Read 1984 by Orwell and get the full experience. Beautiful art direction, though. And now I know how to say 2+2=5 in Egyptian, shukran.

С точки зрения идеологической работы, в беларуси так уже 18 лет. Другое дело, что у нас никто не строит илюзий, и в “своих” тетрадках все пишут 4.

I saw this short film in the Manhattan Short film festival and I was so moved in those 6 minutes! I honestly love how well thought this film was and how it made me think. It made me think that some cant express themselves without being prosecuted and this film is just amazing!
